Aftercare :

where healing

becomes

part of the art

You’ve just received a piece of permanent art, now it’s time to honour it. Proper aftercare protects your tattoo, ensures vibrant healing and allows your body to do what it’s designed to do: regenerate

if you left with plastic wrap

This is our short term barrier method. Think of it as your tattoo’s little breathing room before the healing begins.

  1. Leave your wrap on for 2-4 hours after your appointment

  2. Wash your hands , then gently remove the wrap

  3. Clean the area with lukewarm water and a mild-fragrance free soap. Pat dry

  4. Apply a very thin layer of tattoo-specific balm or fragrance free moisturiser ( we can recommend one if you’re unsure")

  5. Repeat the wash and moisturise routine twice daily for 10-14 days.

if you left with second skin

Welcome to the low maintenance life. This transparent, breathable bandage acts like a second layer of skin.

  1. Keep the bandage on for 3-5 days, depending on your artist’s recommendation

  2. It’s normal to see plasma or ink collect underneath - don’t panic, that’s part of the process.

  3. When it’s time to remove it, peel it off gently in a warm shower, pulling slowly in the direction of the hair growth.

  4. Wash the tattoo with mild soap and lukewarm water, then pat dry.

  5. Begin applying your aftercare balm or moisturiser 2-3 times daily.

( Note: if the film lifts or water gets underneath, remove it and switch to the plastic wrap method instead)

if you were rewrapped with plastic (overnight):

This is sometimes used for larger or high-friction pieces.

  1. Keep the wrap on overnight, or for up to 12 hours

  2. In the morning, gently remove and follow the same steps as above, wash, dry, moisturise and repeat.

  3. Continue the twice -daily routine for the next 10-14 days, or as directed by your artist.

General tips

  • No soaking - avoid baths, swimming, spas, saunas and the ocean for at least 2 weeks

  • Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds. Once healed always wear SPF on your tattoo as sun exposure fades and can cause the tattoo to look worn.

  • No scratching or picking. Even when it’s itchy, that means it’s healing and we don’t want to scratch the ink out of the skin creating unevenness

  • Stay clean, stay dry and let your skin breathe. Loose soft clothing is your best friend

  • Listen to your body. If anything feels off, reach out we are always here to help.

Your tattoo is more than just ink, it’s a moment in time, a story told through skin. How you care for it now shapes how it lives with you forever.

Welcome to the art that stays.
