What to Expect
A three day intensive tattoo education program. designed for aspiring artists who want a clear, professional introduction to tattooing without spending years searching for answers alone.
❋ FOUNDATIONSWe discuss an overview of the tattoo industry, hygiene and infection control, skin anatomy, equipment mastery, understanding your new tattoo machine, needle configurations and voltage/machine settings.
❋ TECHNICAL SKILLSStencil Application, Linework fundamentals, Depth Control, Design preparation and common beginner mistakes.
All students will have a take home accountability curriculum that will need to be completed as a pre-requisite for tattoo apprenticeship consideration at The Grey Area.
❋ PRACTICAL APPLICATIONWatch live session tattooing, experience guided fake skin exercises, build confidence, client experience, business and career pathways and next steps.
❋ FOOD AND REFRESHMENTSWe will organise catered lunch platters and refreshments, we will be in contact to organise any dietary requirements.

Day One
foundations + professional standards
The purpose of this day is not to rush toward tattooing, but to establish the foundations upon which all meaningful progress is built. Students are introduced to the principles that govern professional practice: hygiene, safety, skin anatomy, equipment mastery and the responsibilities that accompany the craft.
Day One is devoted to learning how to see. The work of creating comes later.

DESIGN + TECHNICAL SKILLS
With the foundations established our attention turns to application. Throughout the day students explore the technical principles that underpin tattooing: Design preparation, stencil application, machine control, depth awareness and the fundamentals of line work.

practical application
Having established the principles and explored the technical foundations, students are invited to bring these elements together through practical work. This day is devoted to process. Preparing a workspace with intention. Approaching each stage methodically. Learning to make decisions with purpose.
